Kirk Distributors names Fedrick Dacres as Kendel Brand Ambassador
Fedrick Dacres, Jamaica’s most successful thrower, has been named Kendel Brand Ambassador by Kirk Distributors Limited. Dacres, an IAAF World Youth discus champion and IAAF World Junior discus champion signed the sponsorship deal with the company during a ceremony at its Marcus Garvey Drive offices on Monday March 30th 2015.
Keisha Cardoza, Marketing Manager of Kirk Distributors said the decision to sponsor Dacres was in keeping with the company’s philosophy of supporting the development of athletes at all levels. She noted that, although Dacres has for some time ranked among the top discus throwers in the world, his accomplishments tended to be overshadowed by the national focus on track athletes. She believes that this attitude will change in the near future as Jamaican athletes continue to improve in field events at international competitions.
Dacres attained a world leading performance in January when he produced a throw of 66.30m to win the men’s discus event at the 11th staging of the Big Shot Invitational at the Excelsior High School in Kingston Jamaica. Since then he has continued his outstanding performance – in March at the UWI Invitational, Dacres heaved the discus even farther and improved his season best to 66.40m. Dacres’ personal best is 66.75m.
Kirk Distributors purchased the Kendel brand in 2013 with its extensive range of food products such as ginger tea, vegetable oil, jasmine rice, canned mackerel and sausages, canned vegetables, and coconut milk powder.
