Union Gardens Opens to Much Fanfare
The Union Gardens Infant School was officially declared open by Prime Minister and Member of Parliament, Hon. Portia Simpson-Miller and Minister of Education, Hon. Ronald Thwaites. The school, which has a capacity to accommodate 150 students between ages 3 ½ to 5 years, was constructed at a cost of $174M through a public-private sector partnership spearheaded by the Union Gardens Foundation.

The occasion was the official handover of a neonatal unit to the hospital’s paediatric ward by the Cari-Med Foundation on Friday, November 20. In addition to the donation of neonatal care equipment, the Foundation assisted in retrofitting a section of the Paediatric Ward into a small nursery.

Union Gardens Foundation Announces Multi-Million Dollar School Building Project
Directors of the Union Gardens Foundation have unveiled plans for a state of the art infant school to be built in the Southwest St. Andrew community of Union Gardens. At a function to launch the project, held at the Jamaica Pegasus on Wednesday March 4, Foundation directors Glen Christian and Gary ‘Butch’ Hendrickson unveiled an artist’s impression of the 11,000 square foot facility which will serve 150 students aged 3 to 6 years.
